How the firm started
MCS & Associates, Ltd. was founded in October 2018 by Michael T. Mendenhall, CEO, after 30+ years serving the State of Ohio. The firm exists for a simple reason: a district builds a building once in a generation and then lives with it for forty years, while the design firm and the construction manager do it every week. We put someone with that same experience on the owner’s side of the table.

Experience
30+ years in Ohio public construction, most of it spent on the other side of these projects. We have sat where the state sits, where the district sits, and on enough job sites to know which promises get kept.
Advocacy
We hold no contract with the architect or the construction manager on your project. Everyone else at that table is working for somebody. We are working for you.
Technical Knowledge
We read the drawings, the specifications, the change orders and the pay applications, and we tell you what they actually say. A district should never have to take a technical answer on faith.
Community
These are your buildings and your neighbors, and most of our clients are an hour from our office. We are still going to run into you at the game after the project closes.
What we are for
Our job is to give the owner what everyone else at the table already has: someone with construction experience whose only interest is the owner’s. We tell you what a decision costs before you make it, we keep the record, and we stay on the project until the last warranty claim is closed.
In practice that means being in the room for the decisions that do not feel like decisions yet. The delivery model chosen before a drawing exists. The allowance that looks reasonable in April and runs out in September. The change order that arrives with a number and no explanation. Those are the moments that set what a building costs and how long it takes, and they happen long before anyone is standing on a job site.
