Kings Local School District set out to build a new high school after voters approved a $142 million bond issue in March 2024, consolidating construction on a central campus site the board chose over two alternative locations.

What we did
MCS is serving as Kings Local School District’s owner’s representative through its $142 million capital program, coordinating with SHP Design and HG Construction from the bond campaign through active construction.
Construction broke ground in May 2025 and is underway.

Site & Campus Plan
The board chose a central campus site after evaluating two other locations, placing the new building next to Kings Junior High on the site of the district’s former baseball and softball fields. The plan increases on-site parking from 600 to 1,300 spaces and reuses the existing bus drop-off, saving the district an estimated $700,000 in site costs and a projected $180,000 a year in transportation costs.

Extended Learning Areas
Extended Learning Areas replace traditional double-loaded hallways between classroom wings, giving students informal gathering and project space outside the standard classroom.

Classrooms & Interior Spaces
Classrooms open directly onto shared collaboration space, with sightlines built for both instruction and supervision across the academic wing.

Innovation Hub
A dedicated Innovation Hub anchors project-based and career-technical coursework, built around a two-story stair and curtain-wall daylighting.

Athletics Complex
The athletics complex sits on its own portion of the site, planned into the same traffic and parking pattern as the new building.
