After its bond issue passed in November of 2018, East Clinton Local School District set out to replace a 1928 middle school and renovate its high school and both elementary schools.
What it included
Middle School
The East Clinton Middle School building was built in 1928, one of the oldest school buildings still operational in Ohio, with costly plumbing, electrical and ADA compliance problems that made renovation unfeasible. The district approved a new 52,856 sq ft middle school at the Lees Creek campus, 11,918 sq ft co-funded and the remaining 40,938 sq ft locally funded, built as an extension of the high school. The new entrance resolved a security concern in the old building, where visitors passed two stairways to two floors before reaching the office.
High School renovations
The 84,552 sq ft high school received security upgrades at the entrance, new roofing, a new HVAC system and new kitchen equipment, on the same timeline as the middle school construction next door.
New Vienna and Sabina Elementary renovations
Both elementary schools received new mechanical equipment and controls, roof replacement, new HVAC systems and security upgrades at their entrances, with restroom expansions in the special education classrooms. The work took each building from PK-5 capacity to PK-6.
