Franklin City School District and the surrounding community passed a bond issue in November 2020 that will allow the district to begin their construction project. The state of Ohio has agreed to fund 57% of the project cost for new buildings through the Expedited Local Partnership Program (ELPP). In the fall of 2021, the district will be moving forward with plans to demolish the current Franklin Jr. High School. During construction and demolition, the district will be utilizing portable classrooms in order to alleviate the number of students being at one location.
The new Franklin High School building will be constructed on the current site of the Franklin Jr. High School. Once demolition is completed, the district can move forward with early site work and begin laying the foundation for the new high school building.
